Case Study: Expanding into New Markets
Nigel Rayment is a milliner of international repute, with a following of dedicated wearers across the globe. His hats adorn the heads of royalty, politicians, actresses and members of the public, with panache and style.
Nigel wanted to increase his opportunities to sell wider than his own retailer network, into new territories, and he wanted to be able to sell via e-commerce, with a site that could process all the order details in one easy-to-manage process.
Nigel's requirements were that the site needed to be able to trade beyond the UK boundaries, so had to be able to sell in three currencies, Dollars, Sterling and Euro, but that each currency would be selected on arrival at the site.
Purchasing would need to be possible via credit card and through approved account. It would also need to sell to trade/wholesale businesses, as well as consumers.
The site would also need to be able to handle all orders accurately, whilst managing stock levels, so that under no circumstances would Nigel be selling stock that he didn't have.
Nigelrayment.com uses a combination of programming languages to achieve the required objective, of a simple-to-navigate, simple-to-use site from both a user and administrator perspective.
All orders result in automatic confirmation emails to both the customer, and Nigel, with the order itself being sent into the order system for processing. Packing slips can be printed and confirmation emails that the product has been shipped can be sent at the click of a button.
Nigel's site is beautifully simple, with a clear path to purchase, whether the visitor is a trade/wholesale customer or consumer.
The site is also simple for him and his team to administer and keep up-to-date. It allows him to keep a track of stock and to ensure that he never oversells.
Nigel is delighted with the result, and considers it to be one of the best on the Internet! Maybe he's biased, but he has had mixed results from web designers previously.
Orders are now coming in from across the world and the site handles all 'paperwork' for the orders. In fact, the only thing the site doesn't do is to pack and ship the items!
